We were eagerly anticipated the start of our renovation project. My husband and I debated what's going to happen on the first day. Will demolition work starts on the first day? Will contractors start with preparation? Will contractors drop the materials and disappear for a month?

So, this is the first week of the project.

Monday morning. Our construction project manager called us and informed that the crew would not come today but will start on Tuesday.

Tuesday morning. Our project manager and electrician came. Electricians looked at the scope of work and left. Project manager deposited the first small batch of construction materials and informed us that a plumber will come tomorrow AND that we need to move HVAC system and it would be additional cost. That was the end of Day 1.

Wednesday. Electricians came in the morning and completed prep work but accidentally cut power for our staircase lights. Thank god iPhone has a flashlight that we can use to go down.

Thursday. Plumbers came, looked at the scope of work and left to get some materials. Didn't come back that day. HVAC specialist came and provided an estimate of work. Our project manager suggested to get another quote, but we decided to not do this. First, it means additional delays which can easily translate into days or a couple of weeks. Second, most likely the difference will be insignificant. So, we accepted the change and moved on.

Friday. Two plumbers came to complete preparation work in the basement.

Sunday. HVAC specialist came to relocate heating ducts.

So, the first week was about preparation. Happy to report that my prediction for what's going to happen during the first week was correct!

Hurray , the project has started!
