Hello! We are halfway through 2022 and I hope all my readers are staying healthy. My new kitchen and living room were put to a good use during past holiday season and I look forward to hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year again.

But this post is about vacuum cleaners. Since we have a house a little bit more storage, I decided to purchase several vacuum cleaners to cover different cleaning needs at my house.

We have 2 dogs, 2 children, a white couch and all that comes with lots of cleaning. In the past five years we've been experimenting with different vacuum cleaners, but I think I found the one that does the job, easy to use and reliable. In the process, we also discovered several types of vacuum cleaners that help with different types of cleaning needs.

Lately, cordless and bagless vacuums became very popular. They are, indeed, very convenient. We tried several models, but I think for a good deep cleaning, a traditional vacuum cleaner with a bag is the best. Below is my review of a few vacuums that I've recently used.

Dyson

Powerful suction, large operating range but heavy, bulky, not easy to maneuver. The hose is made of hard material that is not very flexible. Hard to clean under the bed, hard to clean the dust container. Not the best vacuum to move between floors.

My rating after 4 years of use: waste of money

Dyson

This handheld vacuum cleaner seemed like a perfect solution for the car, stairs or other small cleaning jobs. Loved it at first but battery doesn't last long and it's not easy to empty a dust collector. I used it for about 3 years, and it performed well only for about one year.

My rating after 3 years of use: can be useful but doesn't last long. Buy it if you really want to try Dyson vacuum cleaner as it is much cheaper than a full-size Dyson.

Bissell

This is a light, cordless vacuum from Bissell exclusively sold at Bed, Bath and Beyond. It has light suction. Battery lasts for about 30 min which is enough to vacuum a small room and 2 flights of stairs. We bought it for my son's room. It also can be used as a handheld vacuum. Easy to clean and not as messy as Dyson.

My rating after 2 years of use: not bad for a small space, but definitely not the main vacuum.

Bissell

Bissell Crosswave is a cordless wet/dry vacuum cleaner that is great for cleaning up the mess after pets. This is our go to vacuum if any of the dogs creates mess on the carpet or the floor. We use recommended solution for this vacuum. It's easy to use and clean.

My rating after 6 months of use: great to have if you have pets.

Bissell

Bissell Littlegreen steamer is light, portable, easy to use and great to clean sofas, remove spots and also great for cleaning sneakers! We specifically bought it to clean our white sofa in the living room and it does a great job. My husband also uses it to clean his white fabric sneakers.

My rating after 6 months of use: must have in the house for spot cleaning.

Sebo

Compact traditional vacuum cleaner with hospital-grade air filtration, moderate operating range, light, easy to maneuver, easy to clean. Slides under the bed, has powerful suction, made of durable plastic. Made in Germany. Comes with 7-year warranty.

My rating after 3 months of use: the best I have now.

My recommendation would be to buy a vacuum cleaner from a specialized store that also repairs them.

Tip 1: Ask them how often they repair the models you like. Frequency of repair is a good indication of quality.

Tip 2: Massachusetts sales tax weekend will be held on Aug 13 and Aug 14, 2022.
