So, what do you eat while renovating your kitchen?

Disclosure. This post doesn’t cover all available options and creative ideas, so feel free to leave a comment/idea/suggestion. 😊
We’ve been leaving without a kitchen for 1.5 weeks. There is no working bathroom on the first floor as well. Last week we ordered a couple of take outs, made sandwiches, had salads from Costco. Take outs are great, especially from beloved restaurants, but eating out every day will break your budget.

This week, we are experimenting with crockpot. A thank you for a crockpot goes to our neighbors who kindly let us use their crockpot. Today was our first crockpot dinner of rice, vegetables and chicken sausage. It came out well and it was great to have a hot meal. I think we’ll stick with crockpot -made dinners. It’s definitely my new favorite thing.
So, how do you feed yourself and your family during renovation? Here’s my 14 suggestions.

1. Budget for take outs during renovation
2. Create accounts with food delivery services like UberEats, DoorDash, GrubHub, etc.
3. Keep your old refrigerator for the duration of the project
4. Invest in a crock pot or a multicooker
5. Toaster oven is good to have
6. Use your grill
7. Consider purchasing countertop electric or induction burner
8. Sandwiches
9. Salads from Costo or other stores
10. Ready made food from a grocery store
11. Take out
12. Granola/cereal+ milk or yoghurt or instant oatmeal
13. Take outs
14. Cook at your friends’ or parents’ house if possible (not COVID-friendly option but warm weather makes it easier)

If budget allows, renovation is a good time to try new restaurants. Now, during COVID, it is also an opportunity to support your local businesses.
If you plan to replace your refrigerator, you can either donate it, sell it or put it in the basement. Second refrigerator will come handy during holidays, parties and just to save you a trip to the grocery store.
Last week we had take outs from Tatte and Sweet Cheeks Q.
Wayfair has a good selection of toaster ovens and burners.
